Herro~!
I'm back to write about my adventures in Japan! 1st day of school was Monday. So most of us were still suffering from jet lag. I woke up around 12AM due to jet lag and also HORRIBLE MOSQUITO BITES. I woke up just scratching my limbs like a madwoman. I probably got about 15 to 20 bites on both my arms and legs. I would put on some ointment and try to fall back asleep, but then I would find myself waking up and scratching the bites. It went on till about 4:00AM and I finally got to sleep for about 2 hours because I had to get up at 6:30AM
Sweet bite isn't it? See that swollen bite? FRIGGIN' MOSQUITOS!
It wasn't too bad waking up at 6:30AM, at this point, I've gotten use to it, I actually get up before my alarm goes off.
First breakfast I had was eggs sunny-side up with a side of ham, salad, and bread. They had AWESOME garlic bread! I wish I have some food pictures, but I'm still sort of afraid to ask them if I can take pictures at the table...maybe tomorrow I'll try!
Then, off to school! Since it was the first day, お母さん walked me to school.
View on the way to school. Look how densely packed the houses are! And to think NY is bad...
Some more houses.
Even though they are so densely packed, it feels different than NY.
The 西村's house is at the end of the block.
We met up with everyone and went to our classroom. That place is huge! Here are some of the intermediate Japanese ppl:
The giant classroom! We were divided into groups, the first year, second year, and third year students. We have TA's from 日大 that comes help us everyday. They are very nice!
Ryan-san, Chris-san, and Jenna-san trying to get a deal with C.C. Lemon. It's a great drink by the way, it's like lemon soda. You can buy it at a japanese supermarket I believe.
Vicki-san, Dan-san, KP-san, Kaori-san (one of our lovely TAs), Karen-san, and Will-san. Chilling and just waiting for class to end so we can go EAT!
Class begins from 8:30AM to 12:00PM. But each class is about 1 and a half hour long. Sensei teaches the beginners and 2nd year students, and since there are only 2 advaced students, they get to do independent study.
日大's cafeteria is shared with their affiliated high schools. So from time to time we see students in uniforms eating there.
First lunch @ the cafeteria:
After lunch, we had a little tour of the campus and went to the 100円 store!
After the tour, we headed to the 100円 store. The quality of the things are so much better than the 99 cent stores back in NY. I was trying really hard not to get too much. Gotta save some $$ for our Tokyo trip! Here's the loot:
I got some nice letter writing papers, some cute tissue packets, body wash, Q-tips, a brush, DS screen protectors, hair scrunchies, Lilo & Stitch hankie, and a Lilo & Stitch pouch for my lil sister.
We all had a lot of fun at the 100円 store. We also found this wonderful vending machine!
My storage thingy.
OKAY! Maggie out~
