日本-Day 1/2

So...where did I leave off?

I believe it was the day after we arrived at Mishima!

I think all of us woke up by 5:00AM or so because of the jet lag. It was a good thing we did, because that has been the only day I caught a sight of Mt. Fuji in all its glory.

The view of Mishima-shi from my hotel room. This was taken at ~5:30AM

Mt. Fuji in the distance! すごいね~

We go downstairs for breakfast. They had both Japanese and Western style breakfast. I have a little bit of everyting.

Breakfast consisted of eggs, spaghetti, macaroni salad (I've been having salad everyday for breakfast!), fish croquette, a little veggie stirfry and miso soup! 美味しいかったです!
Some of my classmates during breakfast: (L to R) Anya-san, Brad-san, Nina-san, and Chris-san!

Will-san and Jenna-san~

After breakfast, we decided to go for a little walk before meeting up with the rest of the group to get ready to meet our host family @ 日本大学. Before our walk, we decided to play the raffle held by the hotel staff. You spin a little mixer thing, and a littl ball drops out, if you get a white one, better luck next time; if you get a pink one, おめでとう! You've won!

Tina-san wasn't so lucky...
But Chris-san won! He had a choice between a 5,000 yen coupon to any Alpha-1 Hotel chain in Japan or a little pouch. He chose the coupon~

Our walk was very enjoyable. The streets were really quiet since it was a Sunday. We did see a few students getting to school for club activities.

I think this is a gas station, I'm not really sure. I think the pumps are up top.

Mishima-shi potholes~! Friggin' pretty!
View of Mishima.
We saw a monk during our walk, we were snapping away like we saw some celebrity.

Japanese shool girls!

So after our little walk, we went back to the Hotel to meet up with everyone, and we headed to 日本大学 to meet our host families. 緊張です!

いいね?
The classroom where we waited for our cue to meet our host family.

I didn't get to take a picture of my host family yet, but soon. Here's Nishimura's (西村)house.

It is a HUGE house. I think watching doramas made me think that Japanese house are tiny, but they're NOT.
This is my room. Mind you, this is only the left side of the room!
This is the right side of the room. I forgot to take a picture of the little space by the door where the let me put my clothes. They even have a little fridge that I get to use while I'm staying here. Oh yea, I even get my own bathroom, and my own little makeup counter/sink, and laundry machine too! It's as if I'm staying at my own little apartment. I'll post those pics up tomorrow~

Tell you the truth though, I wish that I get a host family that has kids. It gets a little lonely. My room is on the first floor so I don't really get a chance to be upstairs much unless to shower or eat. It would be nice to just have a little room upstairs too, so at least that would give me a reason to hang out with them and talk to them more. My routine is pretty much the same everyday so far:

Wake up at 6:30AM
Get ready
Eat breakfast at 7:00AM
Walk to school at 7:40AM
Arrive at 8:05AM
Class from 8:30AM to ~12:00PM
Lunch from 12:00PM to 1:00PM
Small little field trips from 1:00PM to ~4:00PM
Get home at ~4:45PM or so and chill out till 7:00PM
Dinner@ ~7:00PM
Shower @ ~8:00PM
and that's it!

I'm still sort of afraid that I'm not doing enough around the house. I always offer to wash the dishes, but they're always telling me it's okay, you can help tomorrow, but when tomorrow comes, they still decline my offer.

I still feel like I'm bothering them if I ever decided to sit with them after dinner. Maybe it'll be better next week.

Anyway, I'm going to end this here. I'll be posting more picture of the school and around the neighborhood. I still gotta try and take pictures of some little elementary school kids with their cute little hats and bookbags and stuff~!

Maggie out~
